Conte is hoping that Costa shows that he is committed to the Chelsea cause after shaking off a back problem that has sidelined him in America.
At the weekend, Conte admitted that he did not know whether the 27-year-old would still be a Chelsea player when the transfer window closes.
But last night he said: “I repeat that Diego Costa is a Chelsea player - and that's the most important thing in this moment.

“He is happy with us and he is happy to stay with us.
“Diego has recovered from his injury and he is fit for the game against Milan, but I will decide the team and formation before the game.”
Chelsea are preparing a £65million bid for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku after having a £57million bid rejected last week.
The Blues will offer Loic Remy as a makeweight in the deal – if the Merseysiders want the Frenchman.
And Milan have targeted the Blues' Colombian winger Juan Cuardrado.
